Overview

Megadyne’s belt products are designed to withstand the general wear and tear of various machining and manufacturing processes. Whether customers use CNC machines, automatic or manual drill presses, mills, or lathes, our belts ensure efficient, safe operation, without the need for frequent belt maintenance. We offer a range of different belts for both positioning and power drive needs, as well as manual machining applications.

The team at Megadyne often fields questions regarding drive noise,  operating temperature ranges, and flex fatigue. OSHA sets forth specific guidelines for noise, and has established decibel level limits at which ear protection must be worn; these regulations can help guide users toward the best type of belt for their application. In general, narrower belts allow for quieter tooling operations. Our SILVER, GOLD, and PLATINUM belts allow for much lower noise levels than other curvilinear profiles and are also operable in high-temperature environments.

Flex fatigue — essentially how much you can bend a belt before it breaks — is another major concern for many machine operators, and this goes hand-in-hand with temperature ratings. Depending on how fast you need a belt to run, just the natural motion of the belt going around pulleys will generate internal heat. The faster a belt is running, the more quickly flex fatigue will set in. Likewise, faster-running belts will produce higher heat. Megadyne’s belts are specifically built for high temperatures.

Success Stories

  • CNC Machines
  • Linear Actuators
  • The drive systems used by CNC (computer numerical control) machines to actuate the tools must deliver smooth, precise movement to ensure high levels of power and precision with consistent, repeatable performance. Megadyne application engineers were able to supply a solution that met all this criteria.

  • Widely used in CNC machinery, linear actuators create motion in a straight line, in contrast to the circular motion of an electric motor.
Belt driven linear actuators are special types used in push-pull and lift applications.

Discover which type of belt is the ultimate choice for the belt-driven actuator on this CNC application, allowing durability and efficiency and providing the optimal balance of performance, life and cost.
