False Teeth System (FTS) for Packaging Applications

Megadyne specializes in providing belting solutions for a wide variety of industrial applications. After seeing the need for cleats capable of being or repositioned while on a drive, Megadyne developed our False Teeth System (FTS). Traditional cleats are welded on belts which cannot be repositioned. With FTS, users can simply reposition cleats or change cleat styles using the same base belt. FTS is available on Megaflex and Megalinear belts.

How Megadyne’s False Teeth System Works?

By incorporating stainless steel hardware into the belt tooth side, mechanical adjustment allows you to employ a wide range of cleat materials and shapes to suit the exact dimensional requirement of the product you are moving. Depending on your application, Megadyne’s FTS allows a variety of cleat materials to be used, including:

  • Urethane
  • Steel
  • Plastic
  • Wood

False Teeth, Real Solutions

Megadyne’s FTS stands out for its ease of serviceability and time savings. While welded cleats are most commonly used, FTS provides advantages in certain applications. FTS provides the flexibility to replace cleats whether broken or damaged or to allow different size products to be moved on the same belt. Additionally, the FTS combines speedy installation with strong holding performance – ensuring minimum downtime and durable performance.

Every belt system requires flexibility not only in the materials of the belt but also in terms of the requirements of the system itself. The Megadyne FTS provides this flexibility with the option of changing cleat profiles within the same belt for new processes and allowing operators to mount cleats and profiles on different belt materials, providing an easy and flexible option to mechanically attach cleats with varying profiles and shapes.

FTS in Packaging

FTS is commonly found in the packaging industry where synchronized sortation, actuation and product separation are part of everyday product handling. It is common for welded cleats to be used in packaging applications, however, cleat repositioning or replacement are limiting factors on today’s packaging lines. Packaging machinery requires greater belt flexibility often found in inserting and cartoning sections of packaging equipment. Where pick and place synchronization is essential FTS provides a better option.

FTS Specifications
